Which Sandwich @ Subway

Hi There... I wanted to express my addiction to this form of healthy / unhealthy food - Sandwhich @ Subway.. It happened this way that when I was in Malaysia - Penang, I realised that there was not a restaurant that understood the term Veg!!. The restaurant called Mumbai House in Penang said they would give me veg food. He said, he can cook a biriyani in the normal way and take the chicken out of it.?!?!?!? very difficult for we indian veggies...
Then I happen to go to Suway and was amazed to see two counters Veg & Non Veg.. What else would I need. I started having it in the afternoon and Dinner. And now am kind of addicted to this food.
Subway allows you to customise the sandwich with four / five types of bread. The second step would be with/without cheese. Then it would be toasted /untoasted, veggies to be added, sauces as a topping, and then lastly Salt+Pepper.
My normal order would be the Veggie Delight - Parmesan bread, all veggies+extra olives at no cost, Cheese ofcourse, Sauces - Southwest, mayonniese, Salt+pepper.

Now the new thing that I wanted to mention here is the new Sub of the day. This is the real icing on the cake. Normally, the veggie delight would cost Rs.80. The Sub of the day is an offer from Subway Sandwich which discounts the sandwich to Rs.50. So now I see when Veggie delight is the sub of the day and it is Sandwich only that day.

Enjoy the sub of the day pricing to feel the difference....

Kailash Parbat @ Velachery

Now Kailash Parbat is at Velachery. Wonder what is so special?

This is one of the outlets at the ground floor of Naidu Hall building situated at 100 Ft Road of Velachery, just off the Vijay Nagar bus terminus.

We happen to visit there on our way to French Loaf and ended up trying this outlet. I have been writing that I am a north Indian foodie. This is the first restaurant where I found the authentic punjabi Chola Batura (otherwise in Chennai it is Chola Poori only). The mix of the spices, the serving method, the add-ons were exactly Punjabi in style. This restaurant specialises in a niche north indian food. One may refer this as a Chart Corner. Just like the Chola Batura, the taste of a bhel puri will remind you of the Mumbai Chowpatty without the beach side. The place is clean and is worth a try in the evening.

Now if you want to freak out here, forget your belly size and just be there to workout the taste buds.

My recommendation if this is the first visit, try out the Cheese Chola Batoore (they would give you two for a price of Rs.70). The fact that this is one of the few good veggie restaurant in and around Velachery, let us be prepared to wait in the crowd for this finger licking food.

The other outlets are in Harrington Road, and Nungambakkam. How do you find the taste of those outlets. Any thoughts..........

MYLAI KARPAGAM MESS

Mylai Karpagam Mess.... One of the not so plush but a tasty south indian eat out. This would be a small place located in East Mada Street, opposite to the Kapali temple main entrance & the Bharati Vidya Bhavan in Mylapore. There would be about 9 tables in the Non Ac and 2 tables in AC room . As stated earlier the restaurant is not plush and hence do not expect any kind of ambience or a smart waiter. What is so special about this restaurant that makes me write about this is food quality and taste. Especially the keerai vadai (Vada made with Palak/keerai) and the Sweet Poli are just mouth watering even as I think about it. The dosas are crisp here and idlis are as soft as cotton. I am normally a north indian food fan, however, this restaurant pulls me on all the south indian dishes.
This is one of the few restaurants in Chennai which have maintained / improved on taste over the years. I have been a vistor in this restaurant since 1997. In the last 12 years I have not seen a dip in taste at all. The owners of this restaurant have spent very little on improving the ambience and promoting the restaurant but have focused a lot on quality of food. Very clearly the reason why it has repute among all the Mylaporians over the time.
Since the food products by itself have become expensive, some may rate this restaurant as an expensive one. But as they say, quality is priceless.

What lot of them may not really be aware that greats like Carnatic Singer T.V.Sankarnarayanan is a frequent visitor to this restaurant (I saw a newspaper cutting showing his picture of eating in the restaurant). Some of the big shots come in big cars and park it near Kapali temple and walk up to have a small bite in this restaurant.

All the veggies those who want to taste a quality tamil food , check out this place out. The suggested menu would be Sweet Poli, Pongal, Keerai Vadai and then the Degree Coffee.

Chennai Veg Restaurants

Hi Everyone,

This is a site for those who are interested in Veg Restaurants in Chennai. I am a foddie freak. We normally spend most of our weekends in all these eatouts. One restriction that I carry all along is that I generally prefer to eat in veg restaurants only. Thru this site I intend to share my experience on each of the restaurants in and around Chennai. Hope to be helpfull to all my Co-Veggie Foddie Freaks. Look out for more of non conventional foodies here.
